If so, rent KZ3.Ĭastlevania: Lords of Shadow is better than you think, but you won't like it, and you're a bad man because of that. Rent KZ2, play on easy, and the graphics whore in you might well enjoy it. But the amount of shit that goes on sometime is amazing. I mean, it has one, but the dialogue and voice acting is mediocre, and the characters flat. Until the next PSN update, it's $7.50 for about 8+ hours of game even after that, when it goes back to $15, it's a steal. It's a phenomenal co-op game, and a really good single player game. Unfortunately, some people are turned off by the cartoony esthetic their loss.Ĭheck out the demo for Lara Croft: Guardian of Light, an isometric platformer/shooter. Have you tried the Ratchet & Clank games? Surprisingly good writing (arguably better in the PS2 era, though, when they were often genuinely hilarious), great visuals, and incredibly fun gameplay. Not worth paying full price for, but I doubt you'll find a full-price copy out there at this point. If you enjoyed the God of War games, X-Men Origins: Wolverine Uncaged is basically a re-skinned version, with a lower budget. Darksiders has a bit of a see-sawing difficulty level I really enjoyed it until I hit a boss I couldn't get through, then stopped playing when I realized my enjoyment of the game was approaching zero the longer I spent on that one goddamned section. You might also enjoy both Darksiders and Arkham Asylum, which are Metroidvania/Zelda-esque. That said, I think Enslaved will be something you'll like, as it's all three of those. Does it mean linear? Well-written? Visually stunning? I think part of the problem is people have different interpretations of "cinematic". They're all great picks and I appreciate the recommendations, but that doesn't help me much. ![]() NotoriousKTR, the rest of your stack is either racing games, stuff I've already played, or Japanese games. Though if the scripting is better than that in Uncharted 2, I'll consider it. This means 100% shooting, hence my total lack of interest. I know absolutely nothing about the Killzones, but vaguely understood them to be cover-based shooters, and the PS3's answer to Gears of War. ![]() Any game which wants to waste the majority of my time by having me drive/walk/ride around isn't a game I'm interested in. I made an exception in the Uncharteds' case in light of their exceptionally scripted linear design. It's an excellent game, but I hate Rockstar's "re-skin GTA" gamedesign and again, I'm not interested in games which focus so heavily on shooting stuff. I struggled through Red Dead Redemption through till arriving in Mexico, after which I said fuck this noise and quit. If I'm wrong about Infamous, I'll give it consideration. I'm not a big fan of sandboxes, as they severely limit a dev's ability to craft a scripted cinematic experience, which is my primary motivation to play these titles. I initially passed on Infamous because I understood it to be a superpowered-sandbox in the same sense as Prototype. What are the must-plays to hit up while I have a PS3? In summary, I'm looking for GESC to recommend the best of western high-quality cinematic PS3 games. Indie titles will also be considered if their production-quality is high enough. Note that I've already gone through any big-name PS3 games which are also available on PC (the Assassin's Creed games, for instance), so I'm focusing on console exclusives. I'm here to sight-see, and not playing the the challenge. The Uncharteds were tolerable given that the combat wasn't the sole focus of the game, but if I'm going to find myself actually getting killed a lot, I'm not interested. ![]() I'm also not really interested in any serious shooters. I'd make an exception to play MGS3 (I'll consider heavily-westernized eastern titles), but I understand it's PS2-only. I'm simply not interested in hour-long cutscenes, emo-bitch characters with poopypants, and "ok, end credits, wait not really, ok credits for real this time, woops lol gotcha, ok for really real now" Return of the King shit. ![]() I'm shitty that the HD remastered editions of Ico and SotC aren't out yet (already played SotC on PS2, though), as those would also be on the list, but generally speaking I have zero interest in anything from a Japanese developer. I currently find myself with a PS3 and am trying to fly through as many must-play PS3 titles as possible. This thread should be pretty straight-forward.
